JM Olds Tigers win Gold at the Lloyd's Legacy Tigers Cup in Historic Twillingate

The JM Olds Collegiate hosted a brand new High School Tournament in Twillingate: The Lloyd’s Legacy Tiger’s Cup.

The tournament is named after the late Lloyd Bath who took much pride in watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren playing hockey and had two of his great grandchildren on the team, Erik Bath and Preston Lambert with lots more great grandchildren in minor hockey waiting for their chance to play for their school.

This is the first time that JM Olds Tigers have hosted a high school hockey tournament in 17 years. The last one was in 2008. You would never say that after this weekend.

The Tigers won the gold medal on home ice on Sunday afternoon after a nail biter of a game, winning 3-2 in double overtime against the Marystown Clippers.

2 Goals by Fisher Dalley and 1 for Jase Oster for Twillingate. Assisted by Jake Holwell, Jaxon Rogers and Erik Bath.

Marystown had goals by Liam Hanneran and Max McCarthy assisted by Michael Farrell and Logan McCarthy

Fisher Dalley won player of the game for his stellar game winning goal in double overtime for Twillingate

Goalie Andrew Lockyer was player of the game for the Marystown Clippers for his great performance in the net.

Erik Bath from the Tigers led the tournament stats with 13 points, followed by Liam Hanneran from the Clippers with 11 points and Kaegen Hounsell from the Astros with 10 points.

JM Olds Collegiate were the perfect hosts who put off a great tournament for all teams involved: Marystown Clippers, Holy Heart Highlanders, St. Bon’s Phoenis and Pearson Astros who were all very happy to be in historic Twillingate for the weekend.

Congratulations to all teams on a great weekend of hockey!
